About Calabar Carnival Grounds
Calabar is home to Africa's biggest street party — the month-long Calabar Carnival held every December draws visitors from across Nigeria and the continent. The carnival grounds serve as the epicentre for performances, masquerades, cultural displays and a procession that winds through the city in a blaze of colour, music and costume. Outside of December, the grounds host concerts and public events, but it is at Christmas when Calabar truly becomes the tourism capital of Nigeria.
