This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our website, submit a location, or contact us. By using WakaFinds, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

Information We Collect

We collect information in two ways — information you give us directly, and information collected automatically when you use the site.

Information you provide:

• Name and email address when you contact us or submit a location
• Business details (name, address, phone, category, description) when you submit a listing
• Photos you upload with a submission
• Messages you send through our contact form

Information collected automatically:

• IP address and browser type when you visit the site
• Pages viewed and time spent on the site (via server logs)
• Search queries entered on WakaFinds
• Referring website (if you arrived via a link elsewhere)

We do not collect payment information, identity documents, or any sensitive personal data.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Review and publish location submissions
• Respond to enquiries and contact form messages
• Send email notifications related to your submission (approval, rejection, updates)
• Improve the site's content, search, and user experience
• Monitor for spam, abuse, or policy violations
• Comply with legal obligations where required

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use it for targeted advertising.

Sharing Your Data

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information to third parties. We may share it only in the following limited circumstances:

• Service providers: Our hosting provider processes server data to keep the site running. They are bound by confidentiality obligations.

Location information you submit — including the business name, address, description and photos — will be published publicly on WakaFinds once approved. Please only submit information about businesses and places, not private individuals.

Cookies

WakaFinds uses a small number of cookies — small text files stored in your browser — to make the site function properly.

• Session cookies: Used by the admin panel for login sessions. These expire when you close your browser.
• Preference cookies: We may store your last-used search filters to improve convenience.

We do not use third-party advertising cookies or tracking pixels. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though this may affect certain features of the site.

Data Retention

We retain submitted location data for as long as the listing remains on the platform. If you request removal of a listing, we will delete the associated data within 14 days.

Contact form messages are retained for up to 12 months and then permanently deleted. Server access logs are retained for up to 90 days for security and debugging purposes.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate information in your submission or contact details
• Request deletion of your personal data or your submitted listing
• Withdraw consent at any time where we rely on your consent to process data

Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information from unauthorised access, loss or misuse. These include encrypted connections (HTTPS), restricted access to admin systems, and regular security reviews.

No system is completely secure. If you believe your information has been compromised, please contact us immediately at hi@wakafinds.com.ng.

Children's Privacy

WakaFinds is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to us, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Policy Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of WakaFinds after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.

For significant changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify users via a notice on the homepage.
