Isaac Boro Garden Park
About Isaac Boro Garden Park
Named after Isaac Jasper Adaka Boro — the young Niger Delta revolutionary who staged a short-lived secession in 1966 and became one of the region's most enduring folk heroes — this beautifully maintained garden park is one of Port Harcourt's most beloved green spaces. Tall trees shade winding pathways, a small lake reflects the sky in the early morning, and a bronze statue of Boro himself watches over the grounds. Families, couples and joggers fill the park from dawn, and on weekends the atmosphere becomes festive with hawkers, music and the easy sociability that defines life in the Garden City. It is both a tribute to a complicated history and one of the most genuinely pleasant outdoor spaces in the Niger Delta.
