About Old Residency Museum Calabar

The Old Residency Museum occupies a beautifully preserved colonial-era building that was once the seat of British power in Southern Nigeria. Today it houses an extraordinary collection of artefacts documenting the history of Cross River State — from pre-colonial Efik kingdoms and the transatlantic slave trade to missionary activity and the colonial administration. Walking through its rooms is a genuine act of historical reckoning, and the building itself is one of Nigeria's finest colonial structures.
