About Zuma Rock
Zuma Rock is Nigeria's most recognisable natural landmark — a 725-metre monolithic granite inselberg that looms over the Abuja-Kaduna highway with such imposing scale that it appears on Nigerian currency. Locals in the surrounding Gwari communities have venerated it for centuries, and the rock's distinctive outline (said to resemble a human face in profile from certain angles) makes it instantly, unmistakably Nigerian. There is no formal visiting infrastructure — the rock is experienced as you approach it on the highway — but its sheer geological drama demands that you pull over, step out, and simply stand in front of something ancient.
